About Blackstock Barn

This brand new barn wedding venue in East Sussex is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty between Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne and is just 5 minutes from the A22 or A267. The farm is on high ground with stunning views in virtually all directions including over the South Downs.

The venue has been imaginatively developed by restoring a fine 400 year old Sussex Barn which has been linked to a new traditional oak frame barn designed in sympathy with the original. The setting of the barn is very special with its private courtyard and also a private, walled garden from which heavy horses and alpacas can be seen grazing. On this 75 acre farm wildlife is supported and a whole range of animals can be seen including fallow deer and a variety of game birds.

The barn features a wealth of ancient oak structural timbers incorporated into a very flexible suite of accommodation offering considerable scope to vary the layout of dining, dancing, entertainment and ceremony to your wishes. The barn has an attractive, fully refurbished minstrel’s gallery that provides a wonderful atmosphere and is a very unusual and stunning feature of this venue. Along with this are large chandeliers made out of antique cartwheels providing a pleasing and authentic ambiance in the function room. The venue is pre-fitted with a range of lighting both white and coloured offering flexibility for any occasion. Beneath the minstrel’s gallery is a large oak-finished, licensed bar serving a range of drinks both draught and bottled.

The whole wedding venue has been subject to a ground-up total renovation finished to an extremely high standard in preparation for the launch of the venue in 2010. Although the wedding facilities are self-contained and private, guests will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy our open farm facilities free of charge. These include beautiful walks around our lakes or through our bluebell-carpeted woodland and down to the rainbow and brown trout filled river that meanders through the valley. Children can even be left safely under supervision in our indoor and outdoor play area.

The venue is awaiting confirmation of its application to become an approved and licensed Marriage and Civil Partnership premises for 150 guests. The function barn itself can accommodate up to 180 guests in the dining area.

After the ceremony dinner and canapés can be served in the courtyard or on the terrace amongst unspoilt views of the Cuckmere valley.
