About Staple Inn

An oasis of calm in the centre of London – a very stylish, comfortable venue.

Staple Inn dates back to the reign of Elizabeth I and is believed to stand on the site of a Staple or Market established in 1248 under a charter granted by Henry III to merchants trading in the staple goods of hides, wine and wool.

Entrance is through an archway into a cobbled courtyard.

Up to 120 guests can be seated for dining in the magnificent Dining Hall, with its great hammer-beam roof, priceless Elizabethan and Jacobean stained-glass windows, oak panelling and minstrels’ gallery. The Council Chamber is a delightful additional reception room. Steps lead down into the Rose Gardens where an ornamental pool with a central fountain and wisteria-clad walls provide a magical setting for photographs.

In winter, the venue has an appealing warmth and intimacy, more akin to a private house than some other London venues. Stripped wooden floors create an atmosphere that is light, bright and contemporary. Other delightful rooms are available for relaxing or for smaller weddings. Prices are inclusive of a room for the bride and groom to change, 120 dining chairs and 18 trestle tables. Round tables can be supplied by the caterer at additional cost.
