About Dorset House

A stunning barn wedding venue in the heart of the Sussex Downs. The Great Barn at Dorset House is licensed for civil ceremonies. It has medieval gardens and spectacular views over the River Arun, is located in the very pretty village of Bury on the South Downs.

This venue is licensed for Civil Weddings for up to 100 guests in the Inner Barn, or up to 20 guests in the Library.

The Great Barn consists of two areas, either of which can seat up to 150 guests.

• The Inner Barn, which is more like a Great Hall than a barn, has magnificent views over the surrounding countryside, a log fireplace, which is perfect for winter weddings and a sprung dance floor.
• The Outer Barn is ideal for a large banquet or for a drinks reception. The barn has direct access to the gardens.

The gardens, with terraces leading down to the river and are wonderful for photographs. A unique feature of the venue is the fabulous amphitheatre, which is perfect for group photographs. It can also be used as a setting for an outdoor blessing, with guests seated on the stone terraces.

On the other side of the manor house is a particularly pretty walled garden, with medieval steps and lots of other picturesque gems.
