Magnificent Palladian house in a stunning setting. Truly spectacular wedding venue!
Castle Hill was built in 1730 as the Earl Fortescue’s family home in North Devon. The Palladian house is set in 18th century parkland with grass terraces and statues leading down to lakes and the river. The eye is drawn through a tree-lined avenue up to the splendid Triumphal Arch on the hill. The follies, bridges and temples in the park provide many wonderful photographic opportunities.
The gardens are a particular feature of this venue. The Millennium Garden has lavender edged, herbaceous borders; the formal terraced lawns give way to the woodland gardens where camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons, azaleas, hydrangeas and many other beautiful shrubs and trees give year-round colour.
This venue is licensed for Civil Marriages. 3 rooms are licensed:
For wedding receptions up to 120 guests can be seated in the magnificent West Wing and for larger weddings this is a spectacular venue for a marquee up to 300 people.
