Sadly Dave’s wife Sue passed away in July 2009 after over 30 years of blissful marriage. Understandably Dave has taken this very badly and he hasn’t the heart to continue gigging and with regret he has decided to retire from the music business.
When Chas learnt about Sue’s terminal illness at the end of June he decided to carry on doing all the shows with Darren Juniper standing in for Dave. Audiences everywhere have been very sympathetic and supportive and Chas has completed all the shows to great crowd acclaim & rave press reviews.
CHAS & HIS BAND are now touring in their own right under the banner “ROCK RABBIT & ROLL TOUR”, Chas will still be performing all the Chas & Dave hits in the second half of the show including “AIN’T NO PLEASING YOU”, “GERTCHA”, “SIDEBOARD SONG”, “MARGATE”, “LONDON GIRLS”, “SNOOKER LOOPY” etc. along with some tracks from Chas’s new solo album.
The first half of the show will now feature Chas’s tribute to Rock ‘ n’ Roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, songs and stories from the days when Chas both toured and recorded with him, ending the half with “RABBIT” to give the audience a taste of what’s to come in the second half.
CHAS & HIS BAND are CHAS on Piano/Lead Vocals his son NIK HODGES on Drums and DARREN JUNIPER on Bass Guitar. Darren is the son of an old school friend of Chas, the man who introduced Chas to Dave years ago, a story Chas relates on stage.
Sit down if you can or Rock n Roll with CHAS & HIS BAND and have a good time and a very memorable evening.
