Lucie’s Story

The Proposal

He eventually got round to proposing to me in Italy.

The Outfit

The Bride – My Mom made my dress, very simple, wide shoulder straps to a deep V at front with a wide beaded waist band and a straight skirt. The dress was all in crepe ivory.

The Bridesmaids – They wore chocolate brown knee length Ted Baker dress with orange shoes, bag and a necklace (they looked gorgeous)!

The Groom and Groomsmen – Chocolate brown suits, ivory shirts and a orange patterned tie.

The Wedding and Reception Venue

We searched the internet looking for places near to where we live, and how many people the venue could seat. Those were our first 2 main concerns. We chose Kirtlington Park because we could have the ceremony and reception there and it accommodated our guest numbers.

The Decorative Touches

Room decorations – We only decorated the tables, that was enough décor, otherwise it would have been too much. We hired chocolate brown banqueting chairs and had orange seat pads made. They looked great!

Table centrepieces – We had long tables. The tall flower vases with chocolate petals around the base. Orange personally named glasses and orange candle holders with chocolate brown tea candles. Chocolate brown napkins, chocolate brown small glass bowls with orange smarties and conkers on a orange string.

Favours – Everyone had a Breakaway.

The Cake

It was a stack of different cheeses with cream, orange and chocolate brown rinds. We used it for the evening buffet.

The Transport

I arrived in a white convertible Morris Minor.

Advice to other couples

Expect something to go wrong on the day but don’t let it bother you! Don’t get too drunk and miss the day! Try to absorb it all in as it goes far too quickly. Enjoy the day and don’t stress!
