Kirsty and Peter’s Story

The Proposal

Peter proposed as a surprise whilst on holiday in Phoenix, Arizona in a restaurant called Frasers, it was just coming up to our 2 year anniversary.

The Outfits

The Bride – My dress was Symphony by Ian Stuart in the blush pink, a ruched bodice top with crystals in silk satin, flowing down to a layered skirt in a silk chiffon. I wore fresh water pearl necklace and pendant with diamond stud earrings, a rose quartz tiara and veil in the same material as the skirt on the dress.

The Bridesmaids – The bridesmaid and maid of honour wore a taupe coloured dress by Veromia, purchased from Mamfii Bridal. The bridesmaids dress was a tea length with straps, whilst we kept the maids dress full length and strapless. I had two flower girls in white dresses with embroidered butterflies from Adams.

The Groom and Groomsmen – All the suits were Bournville (brown) from Moss Bros. with taupe cravets, the groom wore dark brown.

The Wedding and Reception Venue

We wanted something natural, we knew we wanted a Spring wedding and needed something that lent itself to that. We chose The Barn at Bury Court because of its location, close to where we live but in the middle of country fields, beautiful gardens and it has a barn which is just stunning, lots of light. We could also have both the ceremony and reception there.

The Decorative Touches

Room Decorations – We had butterflies on chairs in the reception and on a swag of white satin and ivy as these represent the beginning of life and spring time. We also had topiary trees. The barn has fairy lights on some of the beams adding to the decoration.

Table Centrepieces – These were simple vases with white and pink tulips with raffia tied around them and each centrepiece was dedicated to someone that had helped plan the wedding.

Favours – We had hand made chocolates in the shape of a bride and groom alternating white and milk chocolate in clear boxes laid on coordinating tissue paper.

The Cake

The cake was 4 tiers, which were white and pink with cascading marshmallows.

Advice to other couples

Do not worry about the tiny details … easier said than done, but on the day everything seems perfect even if it’s not, and to be honest as the day goes on, you forget what the tiny details were even meant to be as you are so caught up in the happiness of the day.

The best part of the day

For me the best part of the day was the service, standing next to Peter and saying my vows was the most important thing I have ever done, and we were both so happy we just smiled the whole way through! Also, the amount of comments we got on the beauty of the barn and the friendliness of our wedding, everyone just talked to each other.
