Claire and Alistair, March 2007
Birkin House

Our Story

The Proposal

Alistair proposed to Claire at home in Ohio, USA. He got down on one knee and crushed Claire’s foot, which is normal for us too! Claire knew he was going to propose, Alistair had the ring and was waiting for the right moment.

The Outfits

The Bride – Long white lacy dress, very classical and elegant. One of those veils that just hang down at the back.

The Bridesmaids – Traditional Amethyst Bridesmaids dresses.

The Groom and Groomsmen – Full morning suit.

The Wedding Venue and Reception

We wanted a venue which was local to Claire’s grandparents, intimate and licensed for civil ceremonies. We searched the internet and found Birkin House, which was perfect and ticked all the boxes.

The Decorative Touches

Room decorations – White linen, lots of flowers and white church candles.

Table centrepieces – Lilies and circular candles.

Favours – Lottery tickets.

The Cake

Three tier white cake with floral design.

Advice to other couples

Don’t underestimate the time needed for getting ready in the morning. I thought we had loads of time and we would be sitting around waiting but we ran over and I didn’t get time to finish everything.
