The cake is, without a doubt, one of the talking points of a wedding reception and couples will want to ensure it looks good.
According to Catherine Ruehle, owner of Sublime Bakery in Fort Worth, US, couples are doing this by daring to be different and moving away from the
traditional iced white dessert.
She said that
unusual flavours and colours are becoming increasingly popular and she recently made cakes for three separate weddings in different shades of green, varying between avocado and apple.
"People want to be really personal now," Ms Ruele stated. "When you go trendy, you might hate it in five years. But it's going to have more meaning if you make it your own."
She also thinks that more and more chocolate cakes are finding their way into wedding receptions, as they always go down well with guests.
Earlier this month, the Mountain Xpress reported that wedding cakes often taste better if they are made by local bakeries because they are not mass-produced and use fresher ingredients.
A
chocolate fountain could be an even quirkier alternative to a
traditionalwedding cake.
