Sunday weddings 'can save money'

Sunday weddings 'can save money' With many people attempting to cut costs and save themselves some money as they arrange their big day, one expert has offered advice on how to do this.

Speaking to the Yakima Herald-Republic, Betsy LaBombard, owner of A Midsummer Night Catering & Event Planning, said that the easiest way to save a few pennies is to book the event for a less popular time.

For example, it is often cheaper to hold a ceremony on a Sunday, she said.

Similarly, the time the nuptials are held can also affect the cost, as an early-afternoon lunch reception will not be as expensive as a three-course meal in the evening.

"Instead of dinner, do a bunch of appetisers. It's picking the menu that fits your budget," Ms LaBombard added.

Last week, Danielle Freedman, editor of DistrictWeddings.com, advised readers of the Washington Post that having an open bar with wine and beer and only serving a light meal is an easy way to save money.
