The world's most expensive wedding cake has been created in the US.

It was made by Delicious Cakes bakery in Dallas along with the Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange and is worth an amazing $1.3 million (£805,152).

On display at the Dallas Bridal Show this weekend, the impressive nine-tier dessert is decorated using silver dust icing and 1,200 carats worth of diamonds.

It weighs in at around 160 lbs and could serve up to 320 people, although they would have to pay $3,125 for a slice.

Butch Stivers, owner of Delicious Cakes, said: "With the economy being bad - and we do the Dallas Bridal Show so many years - we wanted to do something that the new brides-to-be could see and dream about and get their minds off everything else that's going on."

Couples who do not have quite this much money to spend on their dessert could take the advice of NWSource and rent a faux cake for their reception.
