Chicago RSVP reports that a dusting of snow and a winter wonderland theme can really make for a magical occasion if couples are looking for something special when they tie the knot.

Furthermore, they are likely to get everything they want for the occasion, as it is easier to book photographers, bands and venues during the off-peak wedding season.

One thing the news provider suggests for brides is to create a crystal bouquet that will last forever.

"Just like your wedding, this bouquet is anything by typical," it explains.

Another benefit of a winter wedding is that many venues will already have decorations in place for the festive season, which means that couples may have a beautiful church or country house waiting for them on the big day.

Travel operators Thomson and First Choice recently revealed that more and more people are choosing to tie the knot overseas and bookings have risen by 35 per cent over the past year.
