If a groom loses his wedding ring then he may feel that there is no hope of ever finding it again.
However, as one family have shown, this is not always the case.
Back in 1941, Herbert Teesdale misplaced his 22-carat gold wedding ring while harvesting his Haverfordwest farm, Wales Online reports.
Now, 68 years on, the band has been found by Kevin Woodroffe as he searched the fields with a metal detector.
He has returned the special ring to Mr Teesdale''s great grandson John Richards, who plans to give it to his daughter Christine for her nuptials next year.
Mr Richards, 55, said that although many people have searched the field with metal detectors in the past, the jewellery has never been found.
"We are delighted to have it back in the family, it's something we've talked about quite a lot over the years," he added.
In other unusual wedding news, Sarah Dawson recently proposed to her partner James Moss at Babbacombe Model Village in Devon.
