Maths teacher earns extra income with wedding cakes

Maths teacher earns extra income with wedding cakes A maths teacher in the US is earning himself some extra money by running his own wedding cake business out of school hours.

According to the Dallas Morning News, 40-year-old Chad Fitzgerald and his partner Edward Navejas, 30, run a specialty bakery, called The Cake Guys, in the evenings.

Mondays and Tuesdays are devoted to baking before fillings are spread and layers are stacked on Thursdays.

They then ice and decorate the wedding cakes on Fridays before delivering them and engaging in tasting sessions with potential clients at the weekend.

Becky Fuson, who teaches maths with Mr Fitzgerald, used his service for her son's wedding.

"Chad designed the cakes just for them, even coordinating it so some of the patterns on their invitations were on the cakes," she said.

Recently, Roy McGill, a wedding cake designer, revealed to EastBayRI.com that to create the perfect cake, bakers must keep up with current trends of colouring and shape.
