As the environment is becoming an increasingly hot topic around the world is seems as though brides and grooms-to-be are also keen to get in on the action.
The Christian Science Monitor reports that more and more couples are finding ways to bring a little eco-chic to their big day and help the environment.
To do this, the news provider states that some people are donating their left-over reception food to homeless shelters, while other are asking guests to make a donation to charity instead of purchasing gifts.
Another popular idea is to plant trees in honour of their friends and family instead of giving wedding favours.
Corina Beczner, founder of Vibrant Events, said: "This is something that's here to stay. It's an alignment with people's values in the world."
One way for couples to have their own eco-chic wedding could be to hire out a sustainable venue, such as Rivervale Barn in Yateley.
