A couple celebrated their wedding from opposite sides of the Atlantic after the bride's visa failed to arrive in time.
Melissa Hughes, who lives in the US, married husband Ian Wylie in California on June 26th, the Formby Times reports.
However, she was forced to watch her friends and family enjoy a party in her honour via a computer video link.
The pair had arranged to have their nuptials blessed at a ceremony at the Royal Clifton
Hotel in Southport on July 17th so Mr Wylie's family could be involved.
But Ms Hughes was left stranded in America after delays with her travel documents and instead reaffirmed her vows over the internet.
The groom's mother said: "The blessing ceremony was the most emotional thing I have ever been to. Ian was taking the computer everywhere with him, introducing Melissa to everyone through the laptop."
Someone else who is experiencing problems with her visa is singer M.I.A. who recently stated she would not be rushing her wedding to US fiance Benjamin Bronfman despite being denied entry to the country.
