If women are looking for something a little different when they head to the hairdressers before their big day, one idea could be to ask for a fishtail plait.
These intricate and pretty adaptations on a normal plait have been seen on many of the catwalks recently and according to one expert, brides can even attempt the look themselves.
Indira Schauwecker, artistic director at Toni & Guy, explained that although the style is harder to achieve than a normal plait, all women need to do is split their hair into two sections and then feed small parts into the centre of the head.
She added that "the smaller the sections the more intricate the plait appears".
Of course, if this does sound a little complicated brides can always get some help from the professionals and ask a hairdresser to help them achieve the look.
The Toni & Guy London Fashion Week autumn/winter session trend report also claimed that fishtail plaits and asymmetric lines are adding a "unique edge" to hairstyles.
