Why Green and White Weddings?

We are well aware that being green cannot be achieved overnight but we’re working on it!

We also appreciate that being green is probably a goal for you too in your everyday life but that it needs to fit in with your 21st century lifestyle, and make financial sense, as you plan your wedding.

We’re here to help you plan a wedding that not only reflects your green values, but also does not compromise the design and focus of your wedding. We can help to ensure that your wedding doesn’t “cost the earth” by offering you everything you need to plan a modern, unique and eco-chic wedding.

Planning your wedding is a happy time when you will want to indulge your dreams and reflect your style in your choice of venue and suppliers.

Environmentally friendly weddings are very appealing and there are many options available to enable you to indulge a truly glamorous style.

There are many elements of your wedding where your choices can make an impact on the carbon footprint of your day. Just using a few green touches can personalise your wedding to great effect; here are a few suggestions to make your wedding day even more eco-chic:

Venues

We are working closely with venue owners, through our sister site, Country House Wedding Venues to ensure that our venues are developed in a sustainable way and are becoming as green as possible by taking part in green schemes such as energy saving and recycling. We are assisted in this by Lewandowski Architects.

Many of our venues are beautifully restored barns using eco-friendly raw materials as far as current-building regulations will allow. It’s very simple, if an old barn is restored and conserved new trees are not chopped down.

Catering/Beverages

Local venues use locally sourced products, with caterers often being based at the venue, reducing the travel distances, refrigeration and logistics associated with wedding catering.

Venue/Table/Flower Decorations

Working with seasonal flowers and foliage is stylish and could also be easier on the budget. The use of potted flowers and trees as table centrepieces and venue decorations can create a dramatic effect, help towards conservation and can later be transplanted in to your home and garden as a joyous, seasonal memento.

Wedding Favours

Environmentally friendly wedding favours are fun and will be very popular with your guests. Who would not relish a fair-trade chocolate favour or a pretty bag of meadow seeds? Maybe even tree saplings for smaller weddings!

Invitations

Many wedding stationery companies offer printing on recycled or recyclable paper.

Entertainment

Reduce travelling by using local musicians and entertainers for your ceremony and reception. Acoustic music can be very atmospheric.

Photography/Videography

Use services that offer digital facilities rather than traditional film. Many photographers and videographers now offer an online gallery for you to preview your weddings snaps before selecting the final cut for the print.

Insurance/Banking

Many finance companies have good ethical policies in place such as being committed to reducing their carbon emissions and recycling office waste. Green and White Weddings has links with ethical companies such as the Co-op Bank and Marks and Spencer’s Wedding Insurance.

So, why Green and White Weddings?

Green – foliage, magnificent trees and beautiful gardens and grounds are a feature of most weddings and many of our venues.

and – just a little conjunction! (Conjunction: the coincidence of two…heavenly bodies at the same celestial longitude. – Definition Dictionary.com)

White – including ivory, cream and sometimes purple or scarlet – needs no explanation!
